CHAANCE of a Lifetime

I’ve only seen a handful of virtual fashion shows since the pandemic started. One was okay, another was boring af. I don’t recall much else. The Balmain FW21 virtual show was frigging brilliant! But, the one I like more than all of the others is the CHAANCE SS22 digital fashion presentation that aired on September 8. To be honest, I didn’t think I would like it at all. It started off with a shot of an AMC Gremlin, a car from the 1970s that looks like a station wagon had an abortion. It is righteously ugly. I am glad that I stuck it out and kept watching it, though.

My first inclination was to just describe the film to you, but I want to add it here because it’s so worth seeing. What I have learned from watching other fashion presentations of this type, is that you’re either watching the film or checking out the clothing the models are wearing. The CHAANCE digital fashion film has that perfect balance. The clothing feels like part of the story. It’s an amazing work of art, in my opinion.

The performance and streetwear collection are inspired by culture, individuality, the stories, and many runways we share, from the boxing ring to the boardwalk - the diner floor to the dive bar - the world is our runway and we’re here for it! The brand embraces all the early ‘90s vibes with its vibrant and functional collection of sportswear. The cinematic choice in debuting the new collection of CHAANCE, virtually, came by way of both safety measures and tribulation for the international brand presenting in New York during the global pandemic (in fact, I believe that this is their second digital fashion presentation, their first being FW2021).

CHAANCE’s digital fashion film, originally aired on day two of New York Fashion Week: The Shows, will pave the streetwear scene having featured dozens of signature, colorful sweatsuits, rashguards, windbreakers, graphic tees, jumpsuits, and hoodies with patchwork details and great attention to ‘90s fit and textiles like french terry and nylon. You can see for yourself that these are all magnificent creations. CHAANCE possesses an inimitable style that doesn’t flinch.

The brand's mission is to inspire, empower and engage street culture through fashion. CHAANCE continues its mission of creating groundbreaking fashionable items based on street culture style that make it a go-to for men and women, alike.
