RUI Thru A Looking-Glass World
The human body is so imperfectly perfect, and designer Rui Zhou thoroughly recognizes not only the human body but the mind, as well, with her designs. Through her visionary and artistic talents, 27-year-old Chinese fashion designer Rui Zhou helps to build a future through fashion that embraces the different shapes and features of a woman, revealing a sexual nature that lives in each and every one of our imperfect bodies.
The brand, RUI, was created by Rui Zhou in 2019 as a way of exploring the duality of all things and the relations between matters and beings to bring that vision to the world through fashion.
RUI brought out the beauty that would have otherwise gone unrecognized in people normally considered unfinished, broken, and unloved. And in anticipation of this designer’s upcoming NYFW lineup in February 2023, RUI’s SS23 line certainly blended softness with severity, obtaining her goal of showing strength in delicacy.
Through a looking-glass world, RUI presented various signature-styled crochet dresses and activewear that hugged the curves of everyday women that resembled you and me, allowing her to see her own sensuality and beauty the way that RUI saw it. RUI’s newfangled ideas graced the walkways of the Fall 2022 lineup in enticing colors of red, black, pink, blue, and neon green and each outfit could easily transition from active day wear to a sensual night out at a club.
