CHRISHABANA & CAM4
Debauched by Design
You probably wouldn’t wear anything you see on this page to the grocery store, but if you did, I wouldn’t judge. Maybe you ran out of whipped cream in the middle of your bedroom bacchanalia. It happens. But if you tell me that none of what you see here interests you in the least, well, you’re just dead inside. Come on, admit it! You need this kind of hardware in your life. Can’t you just smell the scent of blowtorches, leather, sweet confections, and funk? No? Well, whatever.
Edgy jewelry brand CHRISHABANA and leading adult site CAM4 touched down on New York’s lively Lower East Side neighborhood to push the worlds of fashion and sex into the next dimension with a highly anticipated concept pop up. The pop-up shop kicked off their opening on September 5th, with a presentation of the collaboration that featured a diverse group of models including Amanda Lepore and Francois Sagat. But don’t fret, the shop at 150 Ludlow Street will be open to the public for one month and conclude on the 30th.
A successful partnership for CHRISHABANA’s provocative Autumn/Winter 2019 presentation opened a dialogue between the brands, to contemplate how their relationship could continue. CAM4 saw this pop-up shop as a perfect opportunity to further its aim to provide interactive experiences, and introduce itself to audiences as a platform to express sexual desires, develop an inclusive community, and generate connections through performers from around the world. Surprisingly, explicit depictions of sex are almost an afterthought for this month long venture, virtually absent from the pop up and decidedly so. Censorship has become an increasingly relevant (which is a shame, really).
Present at the event were: Tana Mongeau, Cole Whittle (DNCE), aforementioned Amanda Lepore and Francois Sagat (modeled), Benji Carlisle, Caitin Stickels (modeled), Tiara Kelly (modeled), Rose Anger (modeled), Boy Radio (modeled), Jazzelle Zanaughtti (modeled), Damian Dragon (modeled), and Bloom Twins.
The celebratory event ushered guests into a series of sleek and subversive activations, set throughout the two thousand square foot space with DJ sets and an open bar. The CHRISHABANA Spring/Summer 2020 collection was on full display, including their pieces from their collaboration with Cam4 on a selection of looks featuring a sophisticated mashup of the webcam platform’s notable iconography in the show’s sci-fi narrative. Attendees were stunned by the multimedia heavy collection, that marked an evolution for the jewelry brand excitedly journeying into uncharted territory.
Now, after seeing all this, if you still want to take a trip to the superette wearing anything you see here, please take selfies, and send them to me. I’ll publish them right here. No. No, I won’t. But you can still send them to me, if you like.
