Art Frak
Back when we were maybe a year or two into this thing, I interviewed Art Frak whose work I found unusual and fascinating. Many of his photographs evoke an innocent playfulness that, while utilizing children’s toys and motifs, doesn’t infantilize his subjects. His photo-illustrations possess a unique form of surrealism, each feeling like a psychedelic episode of “The Twilight Zone”. There are mysteries and questions in every picture. This comes as no surprise when you learn that he doesn’t consider himself a photographer in the traditional sense of the word.
“When I first decided to start clicking the shutter button, it was to facilitate the creation of various images and ideas that I had swirling around in my soggy sponge brain. It's the curse of a perpetually curious mind, there's always a story I want to tell, a concept to explore, and a cool-looking image that I want to create.”
I am pleased to have the honor of publishing his works of art once again and to (hopefully) introduce this phenomenal photographer to new audiences.
